Is there phone connection (Rogers) at Nitinat lake?

I’m planning to head up there next weekend, if the weather works out.

Cheers

No cell service on any carrier, but they now have paid wifi in the campground. Vouchers are about $2.50 for 10 minutes if you want to wifi call or email someone.

Anyone know whats the status of beach camping is this year? I remember hearing something about it not being allowed after expanding the campsite. Im hoping to go there on Monday with the family, if anyone is around.
cheers, rich

Richi, we were there last week. The Band has posted a few new rules including “dogs must be on leash” and “no camping on the beach”. Not sure why, but they seem to be enforcing it.
The regular sites are now $20/night. They are fixing up the old outhouses and they’ve added lots of new sites towards the River.
Not quite the old vibe but still a great place.

One more question Brian. Were campfires allowed last week and was there wood for sale at gas station? Thanks!

Campfires were still allowed. I didn’t notice where people were buying the wood. I know they sell it cheap by the roadside in Youboo and I suspect the band is selling it too, but not sure

In the new rules dogs may be off leash on the beach. Besides a guy ask me which band I'm from and said Squamish Band so they took it easy on my dogs :-) Also they give credit to my dogs so well behave --- in my mind probably even more behave than some humans :-)

I guess I could look like from Asian to Indian to Native to South Islander -- just depends on my mood.

Classic Nitinat Monday Aug 5th. On my new (new to me) 74 L board and 3.4 m^2. Felt so mission accomplished because I nailed my gybes all the time when were there unlike when I was there for learning.

Besides I felt like a 7 year young again (how Rob puts it) because I can go out and gybe and come back. Oh how physical exercise keeps one feeling young.
