Mast track and tuttle box position works fine and have not been changed (I did use it as a foil board before the chop and found the swing weight unwieldy, but otherwise it was fine)

Today looks like a legit after work foil session day due to a good temperature gradient. Last night it blew until sunset I made the mistake of taking a SUP out as the wind meter was reading low due to a bit of south in the direction. Get it if you can!

All right! First foil session ever at Lacarno. Forgot my harness bar, so arms were getting tired. Had a few flights up to 2 or 3 seconds, 2:30-4:00. Slingshot H2/Gamma, 24" mast, 5.5M Retro. No back straps, front straps are inboard. 5.5m was plenty of power as I was sheeted out all the time.

After a few times uphauling I was able to do deep beach starts and two feet waterstarts.
Even though I was not flying most of the time the foil still lifted the board so I didn't feel the chop at all; I was going much slower though.

Once flying the foil wants to go upwind, heading out.

New Handicap parking on both sides of the Lacarno gravel lot.

First ever foiling session yesterday. Awesome! Managed to get up on the foil for several seconds at a time although probably only lifted 10-20 cm. Amazing lightness in the sail and speed considering the 12-14 knots that were blowing. I was on a 5.6 Hucker, 130L Slingshot Dialer and Naish Thrust. Used a harness, never got into the footstraps. Can't wait until next time! :D

AlexK, we cut about 2 feet off. There is still a bit of rocker and it will get it's inaugural run in 8 days when i head out to Nitinat.

Despite the wind showing up here on the Island, i am stuck behind a desk for a few days ...

I have been using a Skate 110l freestyle board up to now and it doesn't have a ton of rocker. Any touchdowns with it were more like "plowing through" the chop and out again.

So we shall see ...

Super interesting. I figure if it was an 8' 6 then you prob had about 130l volume judging by the wide tail on it.
Surprisingly I asked Rob to make me a foil board that size this spring but he did not want to as he was concerned about touchdowns.
Since then, I talked to Phil at Horue regarding the Femto and he has told me that if there is enough rocker than it is a non issue. I would maybe get a Sling 100 but it doesn't come in deep tuttle so...
Let me know how it goes. I am using a 125 SB Hypersonic which has 76 width and I don't really feel I need any other board to foil on. Other than wanting to take a foot off the nose as well! It is 226 original. Cheers

Check out DaveM on bigwavedave.ca

It is killing me that I haven't been able to try it out yet.

I think Rob is super busy - I also asked him to build me something but he is swamped with his projects.

if it works .... there will be a lot of 28 and other Roberts boards being dusted off!
