Cypress 2018/2019

When it's absolutely too cold

by drh » Sun Apr 07, 2019 2:12 pm

Superb morning at Cypress with Skier Bob and Matthew. Although the 6 AM report said they only had 6 CM in 24 hours, the avalanche.ca report was right again. It was an almost identical session to a week ago last Tuesday as there was 15-30 CM at higher elevations. Some of the usual runs were officially closed (Horizon, Cascade, Trumpeter and Moons) which made for great poaching. We were on the first Sky chair when it opened shortly after 10 AM. We were going to do Tomcat/Ripcord but as it was foggy there we headed to Top Gun for some epic turns. At the end of the morning we finished off with Crazy Raven. :D :D

Had some good runs at Cypress this morning. Nice grooming although not much terrain open. Snowing all morning. A bit foggy at times.

Fantastic powder turns on the fat skis at Cypress this morning with Skier Bob and Chris. About 15-20 cm of fresh snow mid mountain and above, with only a handful of skiers around. Lots of fresh tracks to be had. It was particularly nice that they had fenced off Cascade and lower Fork so we pretty much had it to ourselves for multiple laps. Finished off the morning poaching Crazy Raven then the Olympic run. :o
