I grew up there and used to sail at Nickel Beach on a SW or W day and down in St. Catherine's or Niagara On The Lake on a NW. Used to get out at least 2 days a week in the Fall, sometimes more.
Sherkston has become the place to be as the waves wrap in around a point rock reef untouched. Nickel Beach was good too as it was perfect side shore on a big Westerly day but the Canal entrance jetties would block the full size swell from wrapping in.
Had some memorable days at Long Beach as well but it was an extra 30 minute drive and had more challenging shore break on a big day.
