For a WSW, good to know what the wind is actually like compared to the Jericho sensor. Alton's graph looks almost unsailable but the wind was pretty steady at around 20 knots average for two hours apart from a mid session lull.
I suppose on the Jericho it's safe to go on the high wind speed reading.

Ryan, I agree. The sensor was probably close for the conditions at the shore but grossly underrepresented the wind out by the freighters. I would say it was averaging at least what the sensor claimed were the leak gusts.
For NW winds I find that the sensor overeads, but the opposite is trues for pure west or WSW.

Sunshine. The day started in the dark, no wind, no harness, and no helmet. Francois made the commute down from Squamish and the two of us traded guesses on what the day was going to bring (not much hope). Then it all changed - sun filled the bay, wind started to fill in, and Carl lent me a harness. Wind was steady and stable (able to keep moving most of the time). Both water depth and waves height were waist to chest thanks to the slack mid-tide. Playful small pushes and jumps were on offer. In the third hour the water flattened on the rising tide just before noon and the wind spun slightly south to create a wind shadow. Almost seemed too warm for 6/5/4. Close to ten celebrating Acadia in the sun (Lubo plus a few kites including Alton and Slappy sailed up to join in). Stoke seemed high and I was thankful for the wind, the harness, and the company.

Awesome pics Dave! I love the city in the background!!! I listened to your OSR this morning (thanks). Thought I made the right call ( went golfing, maybe I shouldn't have ). It looks like there was eventually some wind to be had. Even the marginal whidbey forecast produced epic conditions again.

Solid 4 hours on the water with 9m + sb in beautiful sunshine. Waves weren't what I was hoping for but still some fun little ones to slash.
