People were not happy they did not get warned about the last Westerly we had. It might happen on Sunday. All usual disclaimers, Vancouver is very fickle.

Whoa, never seen TAF hit 40 on a westerly before.

Let's hope there is still some left at fist light. We are talking coastal size waves here.

It's been way too long since I've had a proper wave session at Acadia ... and today delivered fun in the sun.

First at Spanish Banks but 4th kiter on the water at 8:30am as I was undecided between 12m and 9m. Overpowered on 9m brought me to Upper Acadia in 4 reaches.

Fun riding with my windsurfing buddies (6-8 at Acadia). Chop from Spanish Banks to Acadia except mid way between Acadia marker and shore where I had tons of fun riding clean breaking waist high waves.

After the first lull at 10:30am I darted back down to Spanish Banks and called it a day. Wind recovered and late arrivals enjoyed WSW 20 well past noon on 12m kites (over a dozen).

Happy to end the week with 3 sessions. Hope the rest of November delivers more.

There was good representation at Locarno & Jericho too. Around 15 to 20 people.

Mostly 5.0 to 5.5 around 8:30 AM with knee to waist high ramps (18" Hawaiian). Dying about 45 minutes later. Guys on 5.5 to 7.8 & foils until around 1:00 PM.

The chip stand was open & nutritious.

Lucky day at Locarno ! I seemed to have rigged just right, as I managed to stay out and have tons of fun on 5.0/95 litres from 915 to 11am. Had enough power early on to get well upwind of the first freighter. The notorious Jericho chop was spread out (up there) enough to navigate through it while outbound; the inbound rides were the big payoff as the waves were spaced well enough for lots of playful riding. As the wind softened a bit, it actually became more fun- you could still stay upwind but ride out slowly into the chop (easier), then use the kick of the waves for jibing and wave-riding inbound.
By the time I quit, I was amazed how light the wind was near the shore, which proved the value of just staying out in the middle for the whole session .
Probably would have been even better conditions at Acadia, but it was great to see the windsurfers’ turnout and stoke at Locarno today.
