I've never been to the Whidbey area, can you please give me some beta on where to go and what to look out for?

Follow the directions and give'r!
Be able to self launch. Not always a lot of people. Look out for thorn branches at the launch area. Last time I was there they were growing up out of the ground right where we were laying our kites. I dug one up and turfed it, but could ruin your day ( if kiting). There are plenty of thorns on the edge of the launch which is grass but seeing them sprouting up was a surprise.
Side current near shore can be brutal I think more at high tide. Once out on the water, do not come too close too shore. You run the risk of getting in the current and your kite can drop from the sky.
It's a wicked place. With some nice ramps on the inside and can be big rollers on the outside. We are down 2 guys at work, tomorrow. Otherwise I'd head down.

arrived at 7:30 this morning to what felt like 30 G 40kts, was a bit intimidated to go out on my own but luckily Steve a local on the island arrived about 15 minutes later, we were both on 7m and TT and was feeling a pit over powered at frist but it backed off just enough before the sun popped over the hill. Clounds burned off and it turned into a fantastic day
forgot how much coastal waves can take out of you,

7m conditions till about noon when I packed it up, pretty stoked to ride this today, been wanting to check this place out for while now

Hey Lucas glad you scored! The beach looks nice and sandy in one of your pictures, was it just sand near the shore or does it go out for a ways? When I've been there it's always been rocky but on of the locals told me sometimes it's nice and sandy. That one shot looks like the tide was nice and low was that first thing this morning?

Low tide tames the shore break, high tide it can be a real punisher.
