Powell river only has one good sandy beach that I could easily find at high tide and it was in a significant wind shadow. Luckily Sunday had a very low tide at noon opening up many more possibilities.Just south of town the coast dog legs and provides a good side shore spot for SE winds, multiple sandy areas to self launch (pics by the pilings) but the cleanest wind was on a rocky point that required an assisted launch, scored a couple hours on my 7m and TT with nice rolling swell in some very strong conditions(felt like 30+ kts most of the time on the water). Bonus on low tide is there are lots of clams and oysters to be had if you are into shell fish harvesting. No end of good mountain biking trails to be found in the Powell river area as well.
