For surf it's different than wind. Usually sisters/ballenas set the wave height at 3-5 am, wind will spill to sandheads/terminal.Darrell knows better and goes straight to GaryPoint to get the best waves.
Acadia will have a wind shadow until 9am, then the wind will get into the inlet ... Waves very early morning, local wind at 9am...that's the usual when forecast is under 1mHB. but of course there are exceptions.
If I were into wind I would stick with Darrell to get the most waves... he does not waste time when at PR.

I like the forecast as sisters ballenas are mild to high, halibut looks good, airport shows wind, because it is not NE then better waves. 340am has to be 0.8m or better to get ready for 445am. Go halibut bank, Canada website. Hope it helps. Acadia works with nuking forecast or reinforced thermal.

im always reticent to go kite alone without back up at Garry point in Steveston as it is next to river an open ocean but im getting tired of flat and choppy water, be nice to be in some ok shore surf.i may hit that spot like 6am Friday then go to Spit later for another Call Sick week no worries, I respect surf line up and waves breaking direction

If you can get a small group for GarryP then fear is gone .... Darrell is always alone. Tide is flat at that time, a bonus if you have to swim, experience will tell you, don't overdo it if wind softens. With that tide i would not worry about river currents just wind.

Wb, there will be wind 200 meters outside , white caps usually there.WB wind shuts down between 7-830 like clockwork except 300 meters out, before getting into inlet at 9am. Mornings at WB are not very windy, even when airport is 15+. If you don't see trees moving, downstairs is probably 10 knots.

Iona is better but gate may be close, but park and walk.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Is there something specific about that time that makes it ideal? Seems to be mid outgoing tide. I posted a while back and they recommended between 2.5-4m tides. Also, ideal wind direction?

Tide makes the break, 8ft first buoy, 6f last buoy, next to spit.

if 340am reading shows 0.6m... keep ZZZ.

local surfing is about grabbing 3 to 4 good waves + 20 poor quality waves == good session.

costal surfing is about grabbing 20 good waves and 3-4 poor quality waves == good session.

You can see the breaks and the buoys in this clip:


Pretty sure those are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th buoys counting North to South.

Also on higher tides you can surf the spit if you are willing to risk hitting rocks and getting washed up on rocks.

Thanks for the pic/video! I'll haul myself out of bed to scope it out. I finally got myself a nice log and have been getting out to Tofino/Wa over the past year but would be happy to catch a ripple if it didn't involve a 5+hour drive or ferry.

I'll be sure to submit a claim to the correct department.

Also, has anyone been out to sombrio? My friend and I are going to head over sometime to check it out because it's half the gas to Tofino.
