Furry Creek

I came across a video, on Vimeo, of a guy windsurfing at Furry Creek. I tried messaging him to get some more info about the location, but he hasn’t responded yet. Has anyone here sailed at Furry Creek? Seems like a bit of a shorter commute than Squamish.

Furry Creek is best on a strong Outflow, typically January to March. Never sailed there on an inflow but I've heard that a few guys used to sail big gear at Porteau Cove (6.5 - 7.0m sails and 120L) when Squamish was blowing 25-30 knots so sailing from Furry Creek on an inflow may be stronger than Porteau Cove but weaker than Squamish. If it's 25-30 knots in Squamish (South wind) it's probably 15-20 at Furry Creek. C36, Adrien L, AG, & Massimo have all sailed there too.

Was tempted to foil there on a day with 25 at the Spit. More depth and less crowd. I may try it later this summer.
I bet it's damn cold in an outflow.

That's the video I made a couple years back. I was on my 110L and 5.3 and the temp was around 7 or 8 degrees. The last 2 times I sailed there I was on my 3.7 and 101L then down to my 73L.

I've sailed there about 5 or 6 times and haven't really noticed much current but it has always been windy and I haven't spent much time down in the water to notice.

In the video I launched from the edge of the golf course as I parked along 99 that day but since then I always launch from the Southern point of Olivers Landing. There is a lookout deck on the point and there is a small stream/river next to it and you can usually find a place off the point to launch from that is clear of logs, etc where other parts along there are jammed with stuff. It's just on the South side of the little protected Cove that has a small floating dock in it. There is a little bit of a wind shadow but it's less there than down by the golf course where it can lull right off to nothing.
On an inflow there may not be a wind shadow.
