From the research I did, it seems that Lake Mohave has south winds in spring and summer, and north winds late fall and winter. The most common launch is from 6-mile Cove, which works well for S winds but not northerly. The more versatile launch is at 9-mile cove since it has good exposure for either wind direction.
Northerly winds are favoured by windsurfers as they are much stronger. We windsurfed two days in mid October (2017) on 20 knot north winds at 9-mile cove. We were too early for the better midwinter conditions but it was beautiful 30C weather and warm water. Easy launch, no hazards for kites either.
I have no personal experience with spring/summer conditions but from what I read they are better suited to kiting or foiling. No-wind days get crazy hot too (this is the Mojave Desert).
I would love to try the place again with strong winter north winds: the lake is so long that it gets good lake-swell/ waves, and winter temperatures look to be above 10C. Even in 20 knot winds it felt a lot like Baja. Too bad it’s so far away from here!!
