looks like Thursday and Friday will have a strong NE presence. Any good locations for this wind direction? I only know of Blackie spit or Harrison Lake both of which I have not Kited at as of yet but may be giving one of them a go on Friday.
I've kited at Jericho on a NE. I've only been at low tide though because I'm usually on my own and don't want to get washed out into the strait. The winds is pretty good considering it is coming over the city, not gusty at all.
I too kite Jericho on NE wind sometimes and it's decent.
I like Tolmie St. best on NE, it's really nice being able to stay right near the shore and have steady wind instead of the swirly gusty crap near shore on a W or NW.
I also stay chest deep or shallower though on E or NE.
The thing about NE at Jericho though is it doesn't come from NE forecasts for Vancouver. It's generally created by SE or E forecast wind that's swirling up in to the city then back out in to the straight. Like currently it's 22 knots SE at bbay and 14 knots at Jericho ENE.
True. I haven't windsurfed for a year now, but NE 's are good at Jericho ... steady winds at around 13knots-16knots, excellent conditions for planing (7+ meter sail/formula), flat. Easy sailing, great exercise . just keep hands warm. I usually sail NE alone too as it's beginner conditions.
