I would rig small at Iona, 7m. I've been caught out there with too much kite and it's no fun.

Lots of kiters enjoyed the unicorn mayonnaise in white rock. Up and down close to shore, but 9m or smaller conditions and big nicely shaped waves out far. Warm water!

Lucas and I enjoyed very civilized SW 20-25 on 9m+TT from 6pm - 8pm at Iona Beach. Awesome waist high breaking waves with 30' of glassy smooth sections between. Even scored some great boosting. Super sunny and super warm water - felt like we were in Maui.

Logs on the beach and weeds at the shoreline made it tricky to launch Lucas' kite. I instead drift launched in chest deep water to avoid the weeds ... then self-rescued since I was first off the water.

Later arrivals were treated with W 30-35 howling conditions. Lucas and I were sandblasted as we packed up. Nice to return home before dark.

Fantastic way to end my 5 consecutive days with 2 hours of civilized wind and waves (fun in the sun) before heading off for Toronto Wednesday morning.

Wow, what a session!

I arrived late and got weeds of death all over my lines on my first attempt to launch so had to spend another 10 minutes de-weeding and by then the tide was low enough to launch on sand and Alton was on his way home to give me a lunch.

So I only got on the water by 8:00 and decided I had to be off by 8:35 to get out before they locked the gate at 9:00 (so fucking early, it was still light until 9:30!).

Only 35 minutes, but they were damn good minutes.Full depower on 7m + SB. My board was sticking to my feet like glue. I landed two 15 foot strapless airs, new personal best. I was landing everything, air after air.

Then the guy on the 10m Trigger had to rescue to I yelled at him to forget wrapping his lines and just get to his kite. God damn I wouldn't want to be on a 10m there, I could barely carry my SB back it was gusting 40 easy.

I should have wrapped up in deep water like Alton, but I was in a rush and like an idiot did it in 1 foot of that death weed water. So I got to spend another 10 minutes de-weeding and then sprinting out to beat the gate at 9:05 driving in all my kite gear.

The water was stupid warm too, a bit too hot in my 5/3.

Great fun in my 9m at Iona. On the water at 7:30 until 8:30 hitting big boosts and when the gusts were reaching near 40 knots and it was getting uncomfortable I called it a day. Best session I've had at Iona.

Slappy, we parked outside so we would have to rush to leave and when we did leave at 9:30 we got a ride out to our truck with another kiter in his van and the park warden was still at the gate waiting. I wouldn't like to risk getting locked in but I think they hang around a bit longer if cars are left inside.

Also when the wind was SW you had the nasty Iona stink going on, I've never been there on true SW before so I was surprised at the stink.

Once the wind clocked NW (and ramped up) the stink was gone.
