Hi Brad,
I agree with you on the water conditions straight offshore into the deep water at Point Bob. You really need to get upwind far onto that shelf to appreciate what the place has to offer on a W-NW direction.
The shelf is shallow enough to stand on in low tide with the water being only 3-5 feet deep. You need to sail about the equivalent distance upwind as the border marker is from the main parking lot at Centennial to get into the good area.
Have a look on Google Maps and you'll see quickly where the shallow shelf extends to. I think you would find the wave conditions every bit as good as White Rock, only much bigger, once you get far enough upwind.
It's very similar to the huge improvement in wave size and spacing just south west of Wreck Beach compared to the point at Acadia where everyone usually goes.
