Today started out as a disapointment but ended up as one of my best sessions at Point Roberts so far. The wind died shortly after launching this morning and we waited a bit before Alton decided to try the Ferry Terminal. Darrel and I stayed at PR and re-rigged up to 5.8s.
Things came back up and we had a few runs but weren't really powered up. We almost gave up but then it picked up again. This time it filled in nicely and we got almost another 2 hours of sailing in. It just kept building and the last 45 minutes were full on. I could have gone down to the 5.2 but didn't want to rig again. We sailed around the front on the point where the surfers were and caught some really nice rides as the swell really picked up when the tide dropped. Jumps were nice as well, the only down side was the outside was really mixed up from the tide so we had to make short runs on the inside. The upside was the swell was so clean and well spaced on the inside it didn't seem to matter. 5 or 6 surfers out as well today.
Nice way to start the New Year
