Exactly.

Your welcome. Just wish it was better news.

Mike wrote:Thanks for sharing Dave. Interesting that I didn't get a reply to my follow up question even though I sent it about 1/2 hour before yours. I asked:

"Is there going to be any testing on the west side of the terminal (west side opposite of where the fire was)? Is this required by any of the health or environmental agencies? This is the side the majority of kiteborders and windsurfers launch from."

Thanks for asking Mike! :D

When I saw that I couldn't believe it!

Maybe I'm just becoming cynical, but it seems like mission statements are often misleading (putting an spin on things) or aspirational (management trying to address a problem that the organisation has).

Follow-up Question Posed (7:19 am, Wednesday, April 29, 2015)

"Kim:

Thank you for the offer of taking the question of ocean water testing to the unified team on April 27. Can you share the outcome of that discussion?

David"

Response from Squamish Terminals (4:53 pm, Wednesday, April 29, 2015)

"Hi David,

Yes, we did and I just posted the following update in hopes it provides more insight.

Envirochem Services Inc., retained by Squamish Terminals, advises that orthoimagery collected by Environment Canada and analyzed for hydrocarbons during the fire indicated no detectable hydrocarbons on the marine waters near Squamish Terminals. Currently fire debris and dock structures are contained within booms and are being removed for disposal. The known potential contaminants of concern associated with dock fires (hydrocarbons, wood preservatives and combustion products) are water repellant by nature. They do not readily separate from wood debris in water due to their extremely low solubility in water. Based on this information, no risks for human exposure are anticipated with respect to swimming or recreational beach uses. If debris suspected to be related to the fire is observed outside of the containment area, please report to Squamish Terminals info@sqterminals.com or 604-892-3511 and avoid touching the debris, as should be standard practice with any preservative treated lumber in general (e.g. railroad ties or telephone poles). An environmental consultant has been retained to conduct an investigation as to sediment and water quality in the context of potential marine ecological impacts (if any) associated with the fire. Results of this study once completed will be made available to the public at a later date.

If you have any additional questions at this time please advise.

Warm regards, K
