 Funny I have been told that before.

gabrielb wrote:...Going to LA beginning of July (for the average disney/hollywood trip) I'm afraid I might ditch them for Huntington beach instead...

I can relate - after a couple of days in the 'happiest place in the world' I pulled the plug and took in an afternoon of small wave surfing with the kids at Huntington Beach that was a breath of fresh air and highlight of the trip (for me). :D ;)

gabrielb wrote:...Ulu is going to Westport after France (June 15th), I'll keep you posted if you want to join. Now I'll have to book that Uke cabin, I'll ask....

Keep me posted (although I'm not sure I have the skills required for Westport though).

Saw that too (2:24) - the strange part is after he sees the surfer in the water he makes no effort to turn/avoid and only jumps off his board after he hits him ~ makes you wonder if he knew the guy in the water. :?

That was rad, thanks for posting. I saw at least a couple people from this movie still ripping there this summer.

It's called a Wind Weapon. They were used by a small niche of sailors for bigger jumping. The idea was that you'd point upwind towards a swell then jump and shift the sail into the wind for a bit of a hang glider effect. They were used primarily in beer commercials, known to be very tricky to sail, and are now used to adorn the rafters of windsurfing shops and bars.
