The "Wind Weapon". Why didn't this catch on? :D

It's because they were an impractical gimmick. They only really worked on super nuker days, they were apparently quite difficult to sail (note there's no footage of anyone slogging) plus I imagine they were somewhat more dangerous and fragile having a fixed mast sticking out the top of the board. Besides if you watch any of the good big air guys at the Wall or Hatchery, they're jumping higher than anyone on the Wind Weapons in the above video.
