Happy New Year to all windsport and snowsport friends!

I decided to wait until 2020 to tally up last year’s windsurfing. Not a bad year considering the long windless stretches locally, and no trips to Baja or Maui in 2019. It certainly helped being retired though.

For those who like to keep track of stats, here are my windsurfing numbers for 2019:

Total - 57 days

Sail sizes - 4.0 - 6.6 (19 on 5.0, 13 on 5.7, and the rest pretty evenly divided btw 4.0, 4.5, 6.0, and 6.6)

Most frequent sites- Gorge @ 15, and Nitinat @ 13; then 10 @ Jericho/Acadia, and only 5 @ Centennial (worse than usual). Only 3 @ Squamish (worst yet).

New sites for me:
Porteau (3 steady 6.6 slalom days), Chilliwack Lake (6.0), Oldman Reservoir in Alberta (5.0), and Ambleside (4.0 with great waves and swell during the big westerly Oct 25th). The remaining few days were on Nicola (5.7) and Harrison (6.0 and 5.0 at Bear Creek).

Feel free to contact me if you’re interested in any of these windsurfing sites. I can also try to advise how they’d work as kite launches.

Here’s to better local wind in 2020!!
