They told me this week that Nexen vehicle access should be open on Fridays until around 8pm, see a few posts above.

Thanks Raquo. I'm going to send an email and I encourage everyone else.

From what I gather most wind sport users are supportive of a solution for the salmon, there hasn't been support to include wind sport in the future plans.

This is a great opportunity for the community ! Send your thoughts.

Good news for once!

* Spit removal is being delayed, will not start in December 2020 as originally planned
* No specific new dates yet
* Expect spit road closures in mid-late August 2020 to upgrade another culvert

Curiously missing from the SRWS announcement is the actual reason for those delays. As I mentioned before, DFO's sediment flow analysis results should have been complete approximately now. I'm guessing the results showed that the port does need sediment deflection after all, so they can't just remove the spit and be done with it. This is wild speculation but I can't really imagine any other reason SRWS would stray from its original plans. I wish all parties involved would share more information...

Anyways, IF my guess is correct this is good news because it gives us another chance at negotiating a replacement for windsports access. Now's a good time as ever to show your support for SWS.

Update: SWS says the sediment flow analysis is actually not complete yet. So then I don't know why the sudden change of plans.
