I have windsurfed there a bunch of times over the years but it's big gear conditions. 130L board and 6.0ish sail and you can plane in the gusts, turn around and catch a gust on the way back. Typically launch from Rainbow Park and work your way upwind to the widest part of the lake. Don't know about Kiting though as the kite may fall from the sky fairly often and you would end up down in the weeds. Fun if you have the whole family with you as there is lots to do but Squamish would be the better option for consistant wind.

Use to sail off rainbow when I lived up there in the 90's in the fall after work.
Was good fun with apres at the Boot.
Would not bother to drive from Squamish now for the experience; especially if the Ticats are playing because
1 The Boot is no more
2 The drive from work
to Rainbow was 5
minutes back then
3 The Boot is no more!

That brings back memories, The Boot Pub! I was in Whistler from 91 to 95 and happened to live in White Gold which was dangerously close to the Boot Pub, especially on certain nights on the week.....

$3.50 Doubles....

The guy who brought the exotic entertainment back was a classmate at McMaster.
Who says post graduate studies is a waste?
I think the Double's might have started out at $2.50 but my memory of those nights is for some unknown reason foggy.
Did see The Hip play there for charity but that was later and well worth the drive from Squamish.
They don't make things like they use to..

I talked to a windsurfer who foils on Alta Lake almost daily on a 5.2 sail.
