Clay discovered Boundary Bay sensor resurrected yesterday.

I thought this would never happen. Does anyone know what happened?

Good news for sure. M has been following the story and he can likely provide the detail.

Short version, to my understanding as of about four months ago, iW generates revenue from NOAA (and possibly others) from data collected at a certain standard and location. They wanted to upgrade the sensor and place it in a 'good' (clean wind) location. They were offered the mile marker, but didn't want the trouble of the install and maintenance out there, so were looking at the marker at the shoreline.

Yes they just told me that they have found a new location for the sensor. They tried to get it as close to the old one as possible. Stuart said it's at the same height and that it will mimic the original one's performance nicely as it is only a few hundred meters away.

Not to worry they are just working out a few bugs. They said give them a few weeks to sort out the cellular comm's issues they are having but then things should be good! I'm already looking forward to the fall!

Looks like iWindsurf/iKitesurf have followed SlappyWind and they are now also posting a graph for Boundary Bay Airport (CZBB).

Interesting to note how different the two are reporting right now - must be a wind line out in the centre of the bay.

oh nice, it looks like they also added the 5 min YVR wind data too, goes all the way back to October.

Also I'm not very happy with the new bbay sensor. It's no where near as indicative of the conditions on the water as the old one. I'd actually say that CZBB is a better indicator now.
