Any news on how the guy is doing? I have heard compound fractures resulted
which sounds pretty bad.

No news. I heard this guy (maybe a beginner?) had a bad launch that yanked him into one of the boats fracturing his leg. Ambulance arrived in 30 minutes and cut his new wetsuit open.

I got freaked out so I decided to spend more time doing some land drills (launching and landing) on the sand bar with my daughter yesterday.

Also heard that this guy (visitor from Ontario?) launched a 14m kite in 20 kts even though he was advised several times not to.

That is pretty brutal. Always gotta listen to the advice of others. Most times it is advice worth taking.
Hopefully buddy is OK.
