Cypress Mountain 2020/ 2021

When it's absolutely too cold

Had some excellent powder turns today with about 20 CM of fresh snow. Pretty big crowd there by 9 AM. Saw most of the regulars except Alton, Tony and Brian C. A bit foggy at times.

Some nice turns in the fresh powder this morning, particularly on Horizon, Fork and Jasey Jay. It was a bit firm and uneven underfoot if you went off piste. About 15 CM of snow had fallen by mid morning. Saw all the regulars except Alton.

Day 12 - Due to tons of morning meetings I arrived at noon then had to park at the last parking lot. Snowboarding in heavy tracked out conditions. First time down the Crazy Raven this season. Poutine was great as usual. I got a bigger workout walking from and to my car.

Cypress morning report. Sunny. Hero cord.

Lots of Xmas holiday people. Raven chair busted. Uphill road traffic is backed up several kilometres to midway between the lookout and the picnic area. Normally I would say to "come on out," but unless you got here for first chair, it would not be possible to come up now.

:D

Xmas Eve morning report.

Hero cord. Sunny. Eight runs in two hours. Not bad at all. Time for snack break.

Come on out, Santa, have some Xmas poutine!

I concur. Same stats for me: 8 runs this morning in nice cruising conditions. Very good snow coverage for mid December. Even came down under the Raven chair for the first time this season.

Got on the third chair when Lions opened this morning (840 am) then did a couple at Eagle before it got busy. By 1030 the Raven line looked bad but it was really only about 10 minutes. The road situation was much better too, now that they implemented pay parking for non-skiers.

Great way to wrap up the pre-blackout Silver Pass period. Merry Christmas everyone: see you at Cypress next year!

I had poutine lunch with Santa. His reindeer stayed outside, because they aren't allowed inside the lodge. BC restaurant regulations, or some such BS. Go figure.

Anyhow, he said he'll be skiing tomorrow on his Silver season pass (with Seniors discount), because Xmas day is NOT restricted. He won't be coming up again until after the restriction period. He says he spent too much money on toys for the world's kids, so can't afford to buy a non-restricted day ticket. A GoFundMe has been set up to fund backpay for his elves.

Day 13 - Missed Tony today. Arrived the usual time but had to park in the overflow lot. Didn't realized it was a holiday today. Great corduroy especially down Jasey Jay.
