Osr green lake. 3 snow kiters out hard to gauge the wind as usual gusty here maybe gusting 20. I feel 6m is too big. Lake is frozen of course. Rigging 6m + skis

Fresh powder ankle deep

I’m sweating here at -6.

Up and down the usual green lake wind perhaps it’s the clouds. No line ups though

4 of us were sharing 5m and 6m kites.

It was windy only in a middle of the lake. Fresh powder were only first 300m till middle of lake, after that it was ice and no fresh snow, probably it was blown out.

First 10m from beach lake wasn't frozen completely, it was 2-5cm of slush, water with some fresh snow on top.

Hopefully it will freeze better for the next weekend.

I'm trying to make sense of what type of conditions I should be looking for and how to gauge expectations. Freezing rain for sunday doesn't sound too much fun ATM.

Do you use https://weather.gc.ca/marine/forecast_e ... teID=06400
for forcasting?

What size kites can I expect to use for an 80 kg rider?

Cheers.

I've been there few times. It's hard to predict wind there.
Yes, if it's strong outflow in Howe Sound, then it should be windy. Last time it wasn't sunny day at Whistler and wind still was good. Also look for temp difference between Lillooet, Pemberton, Whistler, Vancouver, with opposite gradient that you want for summer Squamish.

Last time outflow was strong gusting to 40kn afternoon. On a lake was 20-25kn gusts, 5m was enough for me 70kg, on powder skis.

This meter show wind every 4h, last time it was around 10kn.
