Cypress Mountain 2019/ 2020

When it's absolutely too cold

by Roxstock » Sat Jan 11, 2020 12:07 am

I went up this evening. The traffic was terrible, parking was a nightmare, 5 cars in ditches and the lift lines were really long. On the positive side the snow was great and the runs weren’t too busy.

Awesome morning up there today. Powder runs-of-the-day were Slash and Black on Black. Great to see that coverage on Raven Chair is good enough to ski all the runs (open or not). Such nice fluffy snow at -9C. Hope for more of the same all this week.

For me, today's highlight was the poutine with pulled pork & bacon.

Today's car rating: 3. There were 3 abandoned cars by the side of the road.

Awesome night at cypress. Small lift lines and lots of soft snow still. -10 didn’t feel too chilly and big fat dry flakes dropping when I left at 9:00. Whoever can get up there tomorrow morning will have lots of fun.

This morning was dry 6" of mini-pow freshness.

The car count was 6. Four abandoned cars, and two cars spinning their tires failing to climb the road, including a new Volvo AWD crossover.

Lions, eagle and sky chair all closed due to high winds. Tomorrow morning should be epic.

This morning was a dusting of freshies over groomers.

The lifts were running on diesel, because trees fell down on power lines in yesterday's high winds.

No night skiing tonight. They're closing at 4:00.

The car rating was 1. One car abandoned at the side of the road.

Day 5 - My regular morning workout before heading to the office. 1 hour snowboarding in 4cm of fresh. Was foggy so stayed on Humpty Dumpty and Windjammer where visibility was excellent.

Fun riding with Tony/LeopardSkin
