Cypress 2017/18

When it's absolutely too cold

Day 5 - Score 10-15 cm of POW this morning. Good on top but awfully heavy and sticky towards the bottom. Wish I had went to kitesurfing at Boundary Bay instead.

Another powder day at Cypress (20 cm in 24 hours according to their website) but was fairly heavy on the lower slopes. They opened the Sky chair just before 10 AM with the snow being significantly lighter there. Visibility was limited at times.

Day 6 - Sweet snowboarding session with LeopardSkin and Jerry. 5 cm of fresh over groom. Usual suspects included Bandito, Clay, Doug, Rob W, Bob and Roxstock. Had to leave after 1 hr. Huge crowds after 10am. All lots full and cars lined up waiting for parking.

Day 7 - Favorite day fo the season so far. Cooler temperatures made for some awesome corduroy groomers perfect for hero turns. Clear sky for perfect viz. LeopardSkin and I had the WindJammer all to ourselves with plenty of untouched corduroy for Tony to crank his carving 360's. Strangely, all the crowds stayed on Lions. Pulled pork poutine hit the spot.

Day 8 - Yet another great day. Cranking hero turns on snowboard with Rob F in soft corduroy all morning under bluebird sky and warm temps (temperature inversion). Hardly anyone there. Again had WindJammer all to ourselves. Even attempted some carving 360's ... fun, fun, fun

I think the inversion will continue into the weekend. Maybe do a tailgate party?

Day 9 - Fun in the sun. Best grooming of the season. Smooth, soft corduroy, warm temps, blue sky ... perfect conditions for cranking hero turns. Almost nobody there. Jerry and I enjoyed the entire mountain to ourselves. Spent most time on WindJammer attempting carving 360 on snowboard but cheated by hopping to complete the turns - need some tips from LeopardSkin.
