Cypress 2017/18

When it's absolutely too cold

Hey Roxstock/Mark - LeopardSkin/Tony and I didn't see you this morning.

Day 2 - First couple of runs were awesome. Soft and grippy for hero turns on a snowboard. Way better than yesterday (hard packed and icy). Sadly, crowds and drizzle rolled in quickly so Tony and I were done after the first hour.

Saturday.

Conditions were hero corduroy with decent coverage on the 2010 Olympic™® Boarder-Cross run. Snow was cushy and fast. First couple of runs were best with very few people on the run. Two chairlifts were open, which is impressive considering the early-season opening. Mid-morning, it started dumping. Raven will be opening soon! The famous pulled-pork poutine was a familiar but satisfying treat during the lunch break.

Fabulous morning at Cypress. Arrived a bit late (8:30 AM) but still only about eight cars in the Lodge parking lot. I guess everyone was sleeping in. Went up on the first chair at 9 AM but there was only about 10 people behind us and very few around for the first hour. 10-12 cm of fresh snow at the bottom with about 15-20 higher up. Soft, smooth powder, with lots of fresh tracks to be had beyond the ropes on either side of upper Fork and lower Jasey Jay. I saw one person duck the rope and go down upper Jasey Jay so I had to follow for a couple more laps. Superb! Skied until 10:30 then decided to head home for lunch as the quads were starting to feel it.

Day 3 - Sweet 10-15 cm of untracked snow on Jasey Jay, Ashley McIver and Lower Maeller Ricker - all roped off. Fun riding with Rob, Marc, Doug and Benito under sunny sky. Sadly only 1 hour of snowboarding before darting off to work.

was foggy like you wouldn't believe, hard to see 10 feet away. also they barricaded the side of lion chair exit so was impossible to get to horizon and others(I did later when someone open an entrance and i had 4 Virgin awesome ride in heavy powder by myself until it was close again.
they should have open humty dumpty and other as it is covered,i guess they need to build sides rope and stuff .
in heavy fog,if not in the trees its bad.

yesterday was better snow quality and ride.
