Cypress 2016/17

When it's absolutely too cold

Day 35 - Amazing day at Cypress. Superb groomers soft for hero carves on every run. Even Coyote 7 was groomed.

Opposite of yesterday, only Sky Chair was fogged in. The rest of the mountain was clear. Fun skiing with Rob W and Clay - tons of grippy turns. Other slackers included LeopardSkin and Marc both snowboarding.

Day 36 - Skiing at Cypress. Groomers were firmer than yesterday and lighting was flatter ... but still fun riding with LeopardSkin.

Just cashed in on their offer of free skiing on your birthday, by taking Jackie up for some night skiing. Nice little birthday gift from Cypress Mountain. The snow was definitely getting to be "hard-packed" on the groomers and the moguls were best avoided though. Hoping for some fresh snow soon.

Day 37 - Amazing conditions at Cypress today. Just like Wednesday, perfectly soft groomers everywhere with good visibility. Even Coyote 7 (my favorite today) was smooth and freshly groomed. Fun riding with Rob F, Marc and LeopardSkin all morning. Other riders included Clay and Bill.

Snow-Forecast is calling for 4cm to 8cm today.

I've got lunch plans today so I'll have to pass. Have fun without me

By default, snow-forecast.com gives the Cypress alpine forecast at an elevation of 1124 metres. Since the parking lot sits at 915 metres, and the bottom of Raven Chair is 824 metres, the default forecast is misleading.

You can customize the forecast for 817 metres. Much more useful forecast.

Day 38 - Beautiful sunny morning at Cypress skiing with Bob, Doug, Rob and Jerry. Good groomers started firm but softened by mid-morning. Jasey Jay was my favourite - soft with a layer of machine powder.

Day 39 - Amazing sunny day at Cypress. First tracks on Rainbow and Humpty Dumpty. Smooth groomers but firm so joined Rob F and Marc on the Eagle chair. Jasey Jay and Maelle Ricker were the best. Groomers were soft and grippy but Jasey Jay had a continuous layer of machine made powder all day. Crazy Raven and Coyote 7 were smooth but firm so returned to Jasey Jay for 80% of my runs this morning.
