Cypress 2016/17

When it's absolutely too cold

by Roxstock » Wed Oct 26, 2016 7:41 pm

Cypress have somehow decided to open November 18th with any snowfall yet this season. It's optimistic but it would be nice.

Waiting for a report from Jerry who is at Cypress now.

Only Collins is open so it may be good for 1 run before long wait times on Saturday.

Can you ski from bottom of Collins to the base of Eagle chair?

Pretty good up here for opening day. Bottom of Colin's has a few brown spots but easy to avoid. Lots of tracks down closed runs but only Colin's is officially open. Sky chair is fogged in and still closed but I saw some patrollers head over there with ropes and piles to prep the area. Can't really ski over to black Mtn side yet

Scored the last 1.5 hrs of fun at Cypress this afternoon. Thanks to OSRs from Jerry and Bandito I was encouraged and arrived late at Cypress just 10 minutes after Sky Chair opened (1:45pm). Already tracked out but easy to find untracked snow in the trees :D. Stayed on the Sky Chair until the lift stopped then returned to the car via Colins and Easy Rider. I was pleasantly surprised Colins was nicely soft packed perfect for snowboard conditions (no skis required).

Excellent base. No rocks in sight. You can ski directly from Colins to the Lions chair. Snow looked a little brownish where Colins splits off to the Easy Rider.

Met Bandito (who skied and snowboarded from open to close) in the parking lot and gave him a ride to the Seabus.
