Cypress powder

When it's absolutely too cold

by drh » Sun Jan 12, 2014 3:47 pm

Great session at Cypress today. It was snowing (quite heavily at times) until I left at about 12:30 pm. Started off on the Eagle chair with a couple of cm of fresh snow on smooth grooming. Did several runs there then went to the Lions chair for my first turns on Collins and Hutch. I hit the Sky chair for some great turns shortly after it opened mid morning with about 15 cm off piste here and there. :D

Monday and Tuesday , Eagle Chair runs are in excellent condition. Super smooth corduroy on soft packed snow. good coverage. Lion side is not so good , just bring your old rock skis. Should be the same tomorrow. Come and get some, ETA 08:30 wed

Surprisingly good corduroy on Eagle for the first hour before it got tracked out. By mid morning it was becoming spring like - felt more like April than January. :o

First time in 5 years on skis. After wax and sharpening, good session at Cypress with Marc and Rob. Great instructional lessons from Marc. Going to start skiing more often (than snowboard).

Nice day skiing at Cypress today with Francis (snowboarding). Crunchy snow and tons of sun. Sorry I missed Cash, Jerry and Benito - next time.

The double m powder has been silky smooth and some of the best corduroy in these cold temperatures. Soft over hard pack with prime conditions in the first couple of hours. WED Eta 08:30 for a repeat of mon and Tuesday.
