When there's absolutely no wind

by gabrielb » Sun Oct 30, 2016 8:04 pm

Another string of SE's, 4 days in a row. Not many people are into SE surfing :? this year.
Seems that after 146K reads and 2.5 million people around, only 1 surfer is into winter surfing. Waves not big enough?
Well, George, if in town, we'll have a busy week, , I'll email (warm-up for Uke). Don't follow forecast as much, Saturna will overshoot. Yes, last session , 8 second rides , like North Chestermann, 6 ft faces, 45 minutes of true surfing ... 15 minute drive.

Trouble with surfing SEs is most of us are out with our kites or windsurfing.

Slappy, comment was not aimed at kite/windsurfers at wtf, they are already outside . It's for summer surfers, and anonymous readers, can't get good with just glassy rides on 3ft surf in 78 degree water. young people are more into electronics anyways, it's safer, which is fine, just surprising ... life is short, + don't see anybody young posting about local surf, except KD.
Then again there is no line up, more positives than negatives, I did my part for almost year and a half... continuing posting is repeating myself over and over... I'll focus on my local surfing, nature's always there.

Something is brewing out there around 165/45. Might be a bit east, or a bit late in the day...but it might not. The tide will certainly be important wed/Thurs. If it doesn't cooperate, may have to deflower ourselves again, and just do windsport, which isn't the worst thing, but you know dude...fingers crossed.

Gabriel, don't get discouraged man. It's all good. I suspect there are more that just can't get out to surf for one reason or another, but desperately want to, and if one can't do, then one wants to read about others that can do. Keep the stoke coming brother. Uke lurks, season is young.

It's funny, a friend of mine loves to surf and has a blast on his longboard at WB the one or two times he comes out with me a year in the summer but he doesn't want to bother buying a wetsuit to go all year.

My main 6/5/4 wetsuit probably costs me $1-2 per session over it's lifetime.

Gab, I will happily join you for winter sessions when work permitting. Is PR generally the best for SE wind?

Colder and bigger the better for me!!

Also, I've been doing solo trips to Westport and the island all fall for some solid surfing. Always looking for some surfing comrades to share the costs and the drive!

Sorry George, I left you there, it's still good and peaking at 2pm now. Saturna 30-35 SSE. Sandy 20-25 SE.
it's all about timing. no time for warmups.

Darrell had fun windsurfing :D , good setup. Local wind not as strong by 1 pm.

Saturday's SE forecast looks decent for surf at PR.
Tomorrow is not enough and high tide before 1pm means no surf break. That's as far as I can see as SE's for next week are constantly changing.

Darrell, not an issue, we had so many sessions this year with George that seeing someone windsurfing (with the limited break we had today) is a welcomed change.
