"This year, the annual event will include surfers who hope to be back on Japanese waves at Tokyo 2020 when their sport makes its Olympic debut. Consider this a nice stress test without Olympic qualification on the line.

In the open men’s event for Canada will be veteran Peter Devries, who is returning to international competition after more than a decade, and a couple of 19-year-olds, Sean Foerster and Cody Young. The women’s open event features 15-year-old phenom Mathea Olin alongside 18-year-old Bethany Zelasko and big wave rider Paige Alms."

After day 3 (Sept 17) of competition it looks like all three Canadian men are still rolling with Peter and Cody staying in top have of their heats (1,1 and 2,2) and Sean fighting to stay alive in the losers bracket.

after 8am tomorrow Tuesday, or 9am Wednesday.

It will be one of those unpredictable NW's ... on the alert for 0.9mHB, anytime Tues,Wed or Thursday; it's been a while.

0.6hb ... may get to 0.7mhb by 7am today.

But the local wind seems to be good at 10 am tomorrow with the thermal, HB will be 0.8m by then and local wind will help on the last 12 km from hb buoy.

This is the first year that we’ve had no Ambleside sessions, for 2018. WB less than last year. PR less as well. Surf sessions are very rare. I imagine Acadia wind sessions, 20+knots, are a thing of the past as well.
