When there's absolutely no wind

Right on! From the couch, it looked like solid southerly wind to the south, with local easterly wind, so was protected from jetty a bit? LHP was cranking too I am sure. Nice score, eager to get back to the wind waves.

Solid session, 4-6ft, good shape, warm water...8/10!

More waves than 2 lonely surfers could catch.

Looking boney for a while now. See you guys next storm cycle.

Between 50-60 local surf sessions in 2016.
Great people and surfers alike. I get cranky about surf sometimes, then again don't follow my lead, just follow when the surf is on, and your positive attitude.

Looking back at 2016 , 2 awesome days at WB (glassy 1.5mHB).; for PR, only George knows ;)
Our system has been very successful (getting skunked ~5 times in 60 sessions is not bad for 2016).

I wish I could help more people with their surfing, but free time is not there anymore. Even posting, properly, the last few months has been difficult. Still I won't miss a single session for 2017.

500+ wave rides for 2016 in flat Vancouver, more to come. Happy 2017 ! and see you in the water.

And of course, special thanks to Father&Son for making all this possible, grateful as always.

Friday dawn, might be a chance to catch a wave or two with snow coming down with this pulse of SE. I hope I can get my car out of Coquitlam.

Nice capture of surfer at WR today, GB. my plan was to head there for high tide this afternoon but the gas tank hit empty after 5hrs TOW at PR marina with George and yourself. 2-3ft waves lacking oomf for the first 3hrs then after George announced that it was glassing off--wind dropped to about 10kn briefly--it went full nuke for the next 2hrs, picking up to some 4-5ft (Canadian) sets. I would say near to 30kn SSE, as the sea spray was so bad my eyes were burning towards the end, and I had difficulty keeping them open! Looked like the wind shifted S or SSW at some point because the swell came up a fair bit and it was pretty messy, doubling up into steep wedges, but definitely rideable. Could have used a lower tide but was still fun. Exhausted now

PR marina jetty today with two other die hards. Messy and windy surf but it overperformed the marginal forecast (which was subsequently bumped up a notch to 20G30kn southerly wind for the southern strait of Georgia). Indeed it was cold but a few chest high sneaker sets had the crew hollerin before the wind tanked and switched E/NE, at which point the sleet was coming down pretty steadily. No complaints, other than forgetting my wool socks for inside the booties. BRRRR!
