When there's absolutely no wind

by Slappy » Sun Aug 12, 2018 8:10 pm

Got out behind the boat on my Catch Surf Stump 5-0 last weekend. I'm really impressed with this board as a twin. Very smooth and fun to carve. As a quad it's way too locked in behind the boat, I've found in the past though that popping up on a quad with only the front twins in extremely hard so I'm not sure how it would do as a twin in the ocean.

Anyone know of a good option for a half fin to put in the rear twins? I could try two Nubster fins but they are designed to be in the 5th fin position not run as a pair in the rear quads.

The others on board had a lot of trouble with it as a twin, which was kind of surprising to me but just too loose for them.

Having the option to swap in the full quad makes it a pretty perfect beginner board too. We had the 8 and 10 yo kids surfing it via starting on their knees.

looks great Slappy,

Some NW the next few days, not much but expecting 0.8m.

0.7 with local winds and incoming tide, probably some waves

Possible 22,000 L of diesel fuel just 8 km upstream of Wreck beach dumped this morning. Not sure when it will be safe for swimming.

primary treatment to wastewater from about 180,000 residents in the District of West Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and the District of North Vancouver. Once treated, wastewater is discharged into the Burrard Inlet.

I'll bring my matches ... no flares needed.

Friday morning now looks like 0.8m (better tide).

Nobody has any recommendations for a set of tiny rear fins for quads?

I think I'll order a set of these and give them a try:

Any chance of some local waves for SUP surfing on Saturday? When? Where?

We had a 0.7m the other day, and two 0.7m today and good tide for SUP.

Best bet is 9-12 Sunday morning. 0.7mHB+ should be good enough for SUP @WB

Do not bother with ambleside or PR.

Most local surfers doing their own thing these days, we tried Seaside OR with George yesterday, Dave at long beach (his new postal code). Roy surfed Portugal/Israel. Ulu @ Tofino.

Not much locally so everybody is abandoning ship.
