Forgot to say that Halibut bank buoy seems to be 20 km away from Wreck Beach. If the waves travel around 15km/hour it would take 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive to the beach.

Yesterday the buoy was 0.7 @4pm, meaning 0.7m waves would hit Wreck Beach at 5:15pm. Halibut bank website is updated 40minutes past the hour.

After high SE winds, like in the next few days, there is usually a short sporadic strong NW wind after, hard to pinpoint. Usually it brings some swells. I'll post it if I see it (if more than 0.5m at hb, good for SUP), a day or hours before (if anything left after windsurfing). I'll change the subject of this post with info...
seems Saturday now; tide is good (4ft flat) for sandy Ambleside, if wind switches quick enough there may be wind and surf for wave sailing/kiting, just for 1 hour of daylight. Keep an eye if it happens:

Sweet, more options for this weekend, something has to pan out. Where are you getting .8 HB from, is it a guesstimate?

R: By looking at Johnstone strait, around 20+ knots in strait. This is a quick wind switch SE to NW and it will spike, I've seen it happen and it's usually windy at Ambleside when it happens. I'll be there, it will be short 6:30-7:30pm; bound to be something.

I don't want to take responsibility for it, but those are sweet conditions for wave sailing at Ambleside, tide is just perfect at 6-7pm for sandy side surf.
Look at Jericho ... forecast 23knot gust at 6pm ... HB buoy is 20 km away, by the time it hits Ambleside it will be more than 0.8m as it's still building up.

Bring your windsurf gear (5.5m,90-100litres), as I said it will be short (maybe 2 hours, until no more light) ... switch to SUP if wind dies (but I doubt it will).

Richi: Halibut Bank actual wave height, peak wave height, period and dominant period link:

Wave and swell heights are as forecasted by EC for Strait Of Georgia, South of Nanaimo.

Have fun,

Chris

Thanks Chris, but I can't seem to find where EC forecasts wave and swell height. Im using Magicseaweed, but would like to know if there is a better source. Im guessing Gabriel is making his own calculations in his wind lab.

I like the wind lab idea :) Here's the chart we use flying offshore to tender barges that are within 10 miles of shore and water deeper than 50 feet.
