When there's absolutely no wind

Awesome recon mission, GB! yeah, 1001 steps never looked very good at low tide and small swell due to shallow shelf offshore, but its interesting to know that 101 steps can be surfed on the low tide (must be deep channel somewhere). Airport now W16kn... maybe if wind starts to crank by 7 I will go have a look at super high tide WB.

So you don't have to guess, here is the map. No boulders or rocks, just sand ;)

Note: 2 people tried to get my stuff from the beach (no value), I had to shout at them . Bring nothing with you.

Thanks for posting. I had looked for this beach access last year and didn't happen to find it. I bet the SE windswell wraps in here too.

By the way, looks like Hein bank hit 6' @6s... probably 8ft faces at Whidbey yesterday mid afternoon.

KD, now you know.

Let's make it simple, name this place "KD beach" as writing at wtf slows me down when on.

So for future reference:

S,SW,SSE @KD beach
SE @PR
NW,NNW @WB
W,NWW @ASIDE

See you next time anything goes over 25 knots (I see HB is teasing again at 0.6m and ballenas at 20knots). :)

I believe that 101 steps actually refers to a staircase north of 1001 steps. What you have found is access to South Crescent Rock beach or something, not entirely sure as info on this area is scarce.

from your post:

"Another area is the Olympic trail on 13th Ave. just west of 131 St. Follow the wooden staircase down to the viewing platform and then take the trail to the left of the deck down to the beach. Any spot with privacy and sand is a naturist area for over a mile."

There we go, it's called "Olympic trail" at 131&13th at "Crescent Rock South Beach"

Good for SUPing as well if you can carry the SUP down those stairs... long rides at 4-9ft tide.

Thx C36.

don't want to beat this subject to death (then again this is for surf people so they don't eat a boulder). But I just came across the best aerial images (zooming in to less than a meter), better than google, at:

if you keep that train light as point of reference then you'll have a clear way all the way to beach, even at high tide...

for days like these (if PR turns South):

but without the shallow WR break (quasi blown out, not to offend)

No day of the month on the video, but iWindsurf archived show November 15 as being the only really windy day. We sailed Boundary Bay that day, but it was SE over there and it looks SW in that video (complete with orange glow of clearing sky on the horizon). When was the last time you saw a wind graph like the one below for CNL?
