When there's absolutely no wind

Never seen so much rain, 72 hours of heavy rain. I took a look at long beach but headed to Chestermann's. Big clean surf in front of the small rock island, but had to stick 30 meters to the right with some 'advanced' surfers as it was my first day (+no buddy). Rip current swept a beginner surfer out, bobbing along in torrential rain, he just disappeared, hope he is well ....

No windsurfers, kiters or sup's around.

Got a few waves, short rides, given the wave size I should've had lots of fun ... but they would close out too fast without a proper break. Other surfers didn't get much either (and my old 6'3 surfboard,no volume, was just right).

Dave, thanks for going to Wreck Beach and taking pictures Saturday morning (hb 0.8m), I though it would be slightly bigger.
Tuesday there may be some surf, I can't tell from forecast. But I think you are getting good at it. If wind tanks and you are headed for SUP I'll join you.

8-) Glad you got some rides, sorry it wasn't more.

Thursday 6:30am-7:30am. Wreck beach, SUP surf.

Johnstone strait forecast seems stronger on Thurs than tomorrow (3am), it takes 2+hours to hit the beach, reinforced by strait winds. Just like Dave's pictures on Sat, hopefully bigger.

fyi: possible surf on Sunday as a weak NW in forecast.

You need hb0.7m for sandy aside (tide incoming 2-4pm). Look at camera at 1pm if any surf:

http://www.kiteboardbc.com/webcam/westvan/

Anytime at WB when hb 0.6+ on Sunday.

Johnstone strait (Hornby island, Sisters, North of Georgia strait, who knows the proper name) has to be 15+knots on both cases.

SUP small surf. NW forecast shifted. It's Monday early morning now, 6:15am-745am @WB. I have the day off, hb0.6m should do it for me.

 I wonder if that would push a small wave to Wreck Beach?

Thanks GB! There is a light NW forecast for mid-day that I will be watching, as that would be a better time for my kids :D ;) What do you think about today?

Dave, busy with Easter today; late reply ... but forecast for today was on the light side (hb got to 0.3).
Hope Wreck beach delivers a few sessions to learn to surf (before temperature gets above 15 degrees and beach people start to show up).

Soft harmless waves, with his light weight he should first learn to keep his balance while waiting for waves, then stand up on every wave (even at 0.5hb) and at last learn to gain speed on small surf. (a shortboard 6 5 should be his board, considered a longboard for him). I've seen young kids 12 and under in California, they have lots of fun in small surf. Sadly the time surf shows up here is not always convenient.

NW is always downgraded, tomorrow was downgraded, we'll see at 5am.
