Crescent Rock Beach SW Sunday

When there's absolutely no wind

Fun surf session on Sunday at the base of the bluff at 131st st 13th Ave with one other keen rider. First SW local surf session for me. High tide of 3.6m (12ft) @1600 was nearly lapping at the base of the rip rap of the train tracks, so I would suggest this would be the maximum serviceable tide for this stretch of beach. Beach-breaky-y peaks breaking up to 50m off shore made for some fun rides with decent energy considering the location. The trail down was a bit slippery and steep and the shoreline consists of pointy cobbles sprinkled with the odd boulder at high tide, so dings to your board or yourself are possible without care. Apparently below 6-8ft (2-2.5m) tide, the contour is primarily sand. Will be keen to check out again on the next (rare) SW!
