if you are 6' 180+... I would chose the 7' surfboard (it has more volume).
That 6' fish board looks very sweet for $400, but not for your size, unless you do swimming as your main sport.
Local waves are more to keep in shape for the real surf (Tofino, etc). Locally you'll make hundreds of drops to waves that are less than perfect, sometimes matching Tofino's. It will decrease your margin of error. Most wipe outs are while dropping on a wave, people get hurt then. After a while you'll find that you are never wiping out on drops, on any kind of wave, so you can focus on the ride.
