Wreck surf Weds

When there's absolutely no wind

by keeldude » Wed Apr 27, 2016 12:16 am

HB sprang into life quite a bit beyond forecast late tonight and looks like there will be some surf tomorrow. Rasp is calling mid day to afternoon, wind alert says dawn, Env Canada is vague as always. Not going to cut sleep tonight for chance of dawn surf, but the board n wetsuit for sure comes in the car to work tomorrow. Worth a look at HB,tides are great all morning at wreck, then have a peep at Aside cam for afternoon

missed it; busy these days. I'll try to make it Friday if any. Waiting for that 0.8m so there are sets for sure and some ride.

.7mHB @ 9am with almost no strait wind (16-18knots)... impressive. Friday should hit 0.8m easily with sisters+hb aligned, time to go nuts then. Ready to go back.

Surfed sandy aside 245 til 415 on my green 7' wave catching softtop machine. Hb dropping from 0.8m to 0.6m with plenty of local wind. After the first rogue 3ft luring set came through it was 1-2ft for a while, weakly breaking. I am glad I stuck around because at some point the swell did finally kick in for a half hour of fun wedgey rights and lefts rides beside the jetty at south end in the waist to chest range. With the buoy swell dropping during the session, I figure the swell boost at beach was due to the outgoing current slowing down to a halt near slack tide. One other surfer came out just for the tail end. Next stop Friday

That jetty wedge is sweet. There is always a good 1/2 surf at aside, somewhere before or after peak, glad you waited. Patience and it will show. For 1 hour at 0.8 m you did great.

Friday, even a 0.6m will work, 7 ft tide at WB. But ambleside side would also work, if strong local wind by 6 pm.
