Sunday surf session

When there's absolutely no wind

by keeldude » Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:48 pm

Sunday looks SE in morning, switching to S, SW, and then maybe even NW? going to keep an eye on it but there looks to be some wind for Sunday. How sweet would it be to catch PR morning then Wreck for sunset sesh followed by beach fire... one can dream.

2c,
by forecast, looking at locust/Saturna and tide ...

I'll be in the water at PR from 10:30am(13ft tide) to 1:20pm(8ft tide), switching SSW after; best surf probably by 11:30am (wind&tide).

Crescent beach cliffs on SW may work after 2pm, but 2 hours @ PR is good enough for me. I see that NW switch as well at 4pm.

Worth noting that Tsawwassen/WR tides turn about 20 minutes sooner than the Vancouver harbour station, and Sundays high tide for t town is 13ft@820, dropping to 6ft@320. Sideshore current at PR, especially at lighthouse park has a very brief slack period and will turn sooner or later than forecast. However I don't think we will see the size needed for LHP. Current not nearly a problem at the jetty. Curious to see how the swell develops, I'm guessing there will be two surfable windows

Unfortunately I won't make it. Already have family obligations this weekend.
Hope the next one is on a weekend as well.
Looking forward to a NW

I may try to go at 1001 steps if I don't end up windsurfing. Tempted to do point Roberts in the AM but we'll see what the forecast looks like in the morning

Brad, it will switch SW at 11 am, I ll try crescent if strong SW and not enough at PR. Would you post a pict Google map location, any parking there...

Found it without even searching, checked map, best beach for incoming surf and there it was 1001, I like beach not many boulders and angle, SW water distance will work.

Crescent road, 128, 15 the av, 1001 steps. See you there.
Thx.

Forecast changes a lot but some models seem to call 10am for the peak wind out of the South. I'm going to pack my car tonight as it might be early. Going to have to make the call in the morning, I'll post here where I decide to go. Open to checking 1001 steps in pm if wind switches SSW/SW

OK. I found 1001 steps.
Could you post early as to where we are going? Will it be PR or 1001 Steps?
Thanks much. Dave C

looking at forecast. 10:30am tide at 13ft means no surf at PR. The SSW wind is a direct hit to Crescent Beach. I'd like to try 1001 (instead of PR) at 10am (tide is 14-13 ft), and see what's there on SW.

It would be great to have another beach where surf would break. Then we'd have NW,SE,SW all covered.

I'll post at 9am, check cherry point (sandy point), where you are Dave if I see turning S (real time wind) then I'll go "1001 steps", otherwise if I see a strong SE (Saturna, cherry, locust) by 9am then PR, otherwise 1001. 10am is peak so by 10:30am we should be at the right place and not waste time.

thanks Brad for the post. Thanks to WTF and posts I now have PR, and maybe 1001 as alternative breaks, very grateful.

Saturna upgraded up to 43 knots !!! SE 10am.
It's on. Big surf at PR, 1030am for windsurf and surf, starting at 10am.

That means 2 hour of great surf at PR , 10 am to 1130am... Tomorrow definitely PR as it's a short board day.

10 am PR, until SW at 1130.

Switching to 1001 steps at noon for another
2hours.

Hope the SE holds for a while.
