Dave, give Sandy Point (now that I have the place correctly spelled) a try...

from picture you can see surf on mild NW. It should go off quite nicely on a good NW, & beach has surf breaks near the channel (to marina) as they have to keep depth for boats.

There are 78 km of surf build up on NW wind. Go there on NW wind (23 knots+) at peak, there should be something...

I can see no reason to wax the underside of the board, as it seems like it would only make the surface rougher, hence increasing drag on the underside. And no pro I have heard of does that. However, I would need to consult a specialist in fluid dynamics and physics before I am sure of anything :)
Interesting video of Lummi Bay/Sandy Point. I could see it being surfable on typical NW, but am skeptical that it gets much better than Wreck/North Shore/ PR on the good days. But I do get the appeal of exploratory surf sessions in solitude!

Thought I would just post here instead of starting a new thread

Good deal on a higher volume board. Be pretty fun on the smaller mushy rolling waves locally.

Edit... Looks like it sold already
