Surfing in Italy

When there's absolutely no wind

by Tony360 » Mon May 18, 2015 11:10 am

Just back from two weeks in Italy. It was supposed to be a trip for my wife, and part of the deal would be that there would be no kiting or surfing. Luckily the ocean had other plans!

I took advantage of a nice south wind near Genoa to score a quick session in decent chest high windswell on an antique Bic board with no wax that I found in my cousin's shed. The rubber leash was so old that it snapped when I put it on. However it was great to get in the water in an unexpected spot. Photos here: https://www.flickr.com/gp/132042141@N03/8168x3

PS: Don't travel to Italy to surf. I am told that days like this happen less than 25 days a year.

first time I've seen a photo of anybody catching a wave in Italy (you may cross it off your bucket list).

Jericho good for light wind it seems. peaking at 3pm
