I did not go yet, because there was a post on kiteboard bc last week by joelh. that the mid lake was still opened water. Since that the weather got even warmer:
Now I am thinking to go out to Mamette lake.
Sunday looks to be windy there /S 15km/h/, and warm +2C might be heavy wet snow on top?

You mean Mamette Lake past Merritt? That's quite a long drive.

Yes that is the one, far, far away...a park your car and 10 feet away the lake to ride type of place.
I know, 3 and 1/2 hours one way.
That is holding me back. Do-able in one /long/ day with an early departure.
I have not decided yet.

I went to Mamette and Twunka today.
Mamette: 1 foot thick ice, no wind until 2PM. There is a 6-8 feet "belt" around the lake at the shore line of melted ice/rain water, as I was told by the local ice fishing guys it happens after rain runs off onto the lake ice. Challenging to access the lake but possible. Half of the lake still has some snow on it.
Twunka is good! Easy access from the day-use area. Solid ice about 1 foot, and some frozen snow on top.
Had a 1 1/2 hour session with a 12m kite and snowboard on the ice.
Took a few pictures will try to upload later.
