Squamp nose

Kitesurfing shop talk

Every time I ride at the spit I end up waking up in the middle of the night afterwards with a bunged up runny nose and Itchy ears. I don’t get it when I ride anywhere else.

I’ve tried flushing my nose out with hydrasense when I get home, antihistamines, hanging my head off the edge of the bed to drain my nose before going to bed but nothing helps.

Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to stop it?

Maybe you’re allergic to the Spit. :-)

Maybe you should stomp those handle passes to stop face planting in the mud. :)

Ive had the same symptoms this year since I spent a lot more time face planting as I learned to foil. Nasal spray and antihistamines helps unplug but still have the runny nose. Definitely feels like an allergy to something in the water as I don't get it those symptoms any where else I have kited.

Doesn't happen to me at the Spit but I've had major symptoms like that for years back when I used to live out east; kept me awake through the night, couldn't breathe, nose constantly running... Saw an ENT for it, said might be allergic or whatever...The only solution that I found effective was to take a Reactine 10mg before the session and another one later in the day after the session. Flush my nose as much as possible and spray Flonase or similar right after the session. I don't suffer from insomnia due to anti histamine but I know its an issue for some. Good luck
