Another beautiful day in paradise today with steady wind even though it was light. And it was good to see a number of kiters and windfoilers out today and exercising social distancing.

Let's keep our distances so we don't get noticed and be shutdown.

Put a ban on kiteboarding for now. It attracts crowds and gatherings.

Windsurfing on the other hand isn’t as attractive to many people as kiteboarding so that can stay. Viva windsurfing.

The goal is to disperse people gathering.

I noticed a posting from SWS on Facebook today, imploring people not to go kiting at the Spit. The reasoning was that it is drawing unacceptable crowd behaviour and it is closed (pre-season) for environmental protection too.

I’ve decided to respect their request even though I’m a windsurfer.
The CoVid numbers in BC are bad and rapidly deteriorating- we all need to practice aggressive social distancing to get this under as much control as we can.

My voice alone isn’t enough but I am all for shutting down access to the Spit. Inevitably people will gather in groups.

GFS is working with stay at home movement to discourage people from going out. Hahaha

hey, I was curious about this wind forecasted for Howe sound Saturday through Monday, I have never sailed an outflow, was hoping someone could let me know the launch spot and possible sail size. As well as the time to expect the best wind, is it an early session or afternoon session spot? thanks! :D

If you are windsurfer. You can launch Portue Cove or Furry Creek. Just search on this website.
Portue cove is closed now, not sure about Furry Creek, most probably closed as well.

The wind is usually early mornings from 7 till 10am.
