Weather Talk For BC no matter what you ride

Saturday Night Iona Session

Kitesurfing shop talk

Scored a nice westerly evening session at Iona, on the water from 8:10 - 9:20.

Wind was about 15-18 knots so I took 12m + SB. The wind wave angle wasn't good for jumping but there were some knee high breakers to slash.

Spent most of the session working on strapless backroll handstand kiteloops (example), landed two of them and it felt super smooth. Very stoked.

Sweet. Got to come up to Squamish and show us how it's done in the honey hole.

Nice job getting that. Any pics of the day? How do you not get E. coli in that water?

Glad someone got it. I went for a walk down at Jericho last night, and wind spiked up to 25 knots! Did you know it was going to come up, I didn't see any forecast for wind last night?

I was eating dinner with the family at Douglas Park at 7:00 and I noticed how hard it was blowing so I checked the sensors and was riding at Iona by 8:10.

I kite Iona quite often and have yet to get sick. I stay out of the back of the bay though.

Coastal Heath publishes their weekly fecal coliform report for all the GVRD beaches and Iona is always pretty low. Probably safer water than Wreck Beach.
