Could be another lucky New Years Day for me at Green Lake.

Hope it holds.

Anyone rode Green Lake on a southerly before? I see no reason it wouldn't work and there is some decent forecasts.

Southerly I would imagine comes with snow much like southerly in BBay comes with rain.

Not sure if you'd want snow hitting your face and sometimes ice pellets.

Northerly comes with bluebird sky and warmth from sun's heat reflection on the snow. Besides Northerly signals to me clear highway.

I thought about going on Southerly yesterday, but just as I thought, heavy slow traffic on hwy 99. So ended up going to bbay on easterly where virtually no one would be interested to go freeing up parking space :-)

Yes I have, and it was very gusty! Sometimes comes with blizzards...
Less gusty and doable on Alta lake.

When I look at some of those wind forecasts it's showing 4-25 knots..that's quite a range. How does it usually work out? Pretty even/mellow wind?

Kite up and down too.

Kite up -- everybody happy: me and dogs chasing me
Kite down -- play ball fetch with the dogs while sitting on snow and waiting for the wind

Where is the access point for Alta lake? Rainbow park?

Alta has around 2 km fetch while Green is 1 km from the south so I'd imagine it wouldn't be too much gustier on Green. The land between the two lakes is quite flat too.

Looking forward to trying snow kiting. Where do you park AJ? What time are you planning on getting there?
