Kitesurfing shop talk

Hi there! Coming to Squamish on 9th till 11th July, wanted to rent a windsurf but seems no windsurf rentals there(
Would you recommend any good kite rental where I won't be obliged to present IKO Certificate?
Thanks
Maria

What type of windsurf gear are you wanting to rent? If you have the means to transport it (van or roof-racks), Windsure at the Jericho Sailing Center does rentals. 99% of their rentals are short term and onsite. However, I remember speaking to the owner and he said they can arrange rentals for long term and offsite. I'm not sure the costs or what they require for deposit. Contact Bernard at Windsure. http://www.windsure.com 604-224-0615. Even if he can't help you directly, he may have other suggestions. Cheers!

Also, perhaps one of the forum members would be willing to rent you their personal windsurfing gear?! Yes there are many kiters in Squamish, BUT there IS a healthy windsurfing community in and around Squamish too. Good luck.

Hi Maria - IKO is not enforced here. However, I'm not sure if you can rent kite gear anywhere. You can ask on http://kiteboardbc.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=1

One final thought... Perhaps it might be worth while to buy some inexpensive secondhand gear off Craigslist. I'm not sure how long you are staying but this might be a cheaper and more convenient option if you are planning to be on the water a few days or longer. Even if you have to sell it at a loss or give it away at the end of your trip it could still be cheaper.

(this is not my add. just an example)

What size board and sails do you need?

depends on a wind, I usually ride 90-100l Freestyle board with 4.2-4.7 sail on stronger winds (say 16-20 knots) or 100-120l Slalom board with 7.5-8 sail on lower winds (like 10 knots)... could you help me to find something like that? I am a very experience windsurfer, so nothing should go wrong)

Sorry I was at the coast sailing and forgot about this but I have a 110L RRD FSW you can use. I'm in Tsawwassen though and you would need to pick it up. I could give you a freestyle fin and a wave fin to use as well.
